Self reflection is a beautiful way for one to be fully aware and connected to their own thoughts, feelings and actions.
Cambridge’s definition of self reflection is: the activity of thinking about your own feelings and behaviour and the reasons that lie behind them.
Being self reflective is the ability to examine, contemplate or analyse your thoughts, feelings and actions.
It’s an important tool that I use with my clients – to call out to them moments they need to honour, for example, how far they have come in a coaching series or how they could have acted differently in a past experience that has upset them.
As most of us rush through our lives we don’t give ourselves time to have contemplative moments – to ponder how beautiful a moment was in that day, how changing your dialogue with a colleague made them feel or to feel gratitude for the simple moments of our day to day lives…
Being self reflective of a positive or negative situation can help shift your perspective of the world. It can enable you to become a better version of yourself and overcome future negative situations.
Below is a list of 15 journal prompts that will help you contemplate and self reflect.
